With your premium Giganews Usenet access account you'll be able to participate in the quickly growing Usenet community.

Usenet is a global network of servers which host discussion groups called newsgroups.   Giganews carries all 110K different Usenet newsgroups covering almost every possible topic.

Usenet works by allowing users to post articles to newsgroups which every other Usenet user can read or download.  Think of this like thousands of email folders where everyone in the world can send and read messages.

Newsgroup articles are stored for a specific period of time depending on the transitory storage of the Usenet server you're accessing.  This is called a Usenet server's "retention".  Giganews offers the longest retention on Usenet with 200 days in binary newsgroups and 1500 days in text newsgroups.

So how do I get started with Usenet newsgroups?

Once you have received your startup kit with your username and password, you're going to need to download a news reader and configure it to access Giganews' Usenet servers. Enter our Newsgroup Software section to learn how to get started.

Yes, I am enjoying the Usenet newsgroups service! Giganews is without a doubt the best news server I've ever tried, and I've been though about 10 popular ones.
